Vienna Style Roast

The Longfellow's Coffee roast of choice for its new Obama Blend

Depending on your source, you can find various nuances of the definition of Vienna style roasting. Some interchange terms such as full or high roast.

Basically, Vienna roast goes just into the realm of a dark roast. It rates highly among specialty coffee shops and drinkers because it defines the line between a gourmet coffee's sweetness and sharpness.

The green beans are roasted to a chestnut brown color, and show small patches of the natural oil of a coffee bean.

Vienna roast sits between what commonly is called City or American roast (shorter roasting time), and French or Continental (longer roasting time).
